AMANDA EADS

I am currently a Postdoctoral Research Scientist at Montclair State University in the Department of Communication Sciences & Disorders. I work with Dr. Elaine Hitchcock in her Clinical Biofeedback and Voicing labs investigating various aspects of child speech perception and production in relation to speech therapy using biofeedback technologies.

 

I graduated from New York University in August 2026 with a Ph.D. in Communicative Sciences & Disorders. I was awarded an NIH NIDCD F31 predoctoral fellowship that supported my dissertation work: Enhancing AI-based Speech Therapy through Acoustic-Derived Articulatory Feedback. I continue working with my doctoral mentor, Dr. Tara McAllister, in her Biofeedback Intervention Technology for Speech (BITS) lab. 

 

Prior to my doctoral studies, I worked as a Lab Manager/Research Technologist for the Center for Language Science at The Pennsylvania State University in State College, PA. I also served as a Fulbright English Teaching Fellow to Amman, Jordan (2017- 2018). I've worked in various educational and research capacities related to language and linguistics over the past years while also obtaining my Masters in Sociolinguistics, Bachelors in English: Language, Writing, and Rhetoric, and a Bachelors in Middle Eastern Studies from North Carolina State University.
